All about the trip

“Two day rafting tour from Tbilisi” tour will take place in one of the most beautiful region of Georgia – Racha- Lechkhumi. This tour is combined and includes excursions and outdoor activities – rafting on the Rioni River. The best period to organize this tour is from March to November.

FIRST DAY

We start our two day rafting tour from Tbilisi at 09:00 with a comfortable car. On the way, we will visit the city of Mtskheta and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. We walk through the beautiful and oldest streets of Mtskheta, where you can buy Kakhetian churchkhela and many souvenirs. We will continue our journey to Imereti and will visit the cafe “Imeretian Oda”, where we will try Georgian food.

Racha-Lechkhumi region

Secondly, we will see the impressive Nakerala  pass which divides  the Imereti region from the Racha region. Moreover, you will enjoy the views of the Lake Shaori, which is located at 1,100 meters above sea level. Then we will go to the Guest House  in Ambrolauri. After a short rest, we  will visit  the  Wine  cellar,  where  we  will  try the Khvanchkara wine, which is prepared according to an old recipe, keeping it underground in special earthen vessels – Kvevri. In the evening we will have Rachian dishes for dinner.

SECOND DAY

Firstly, breakfast and departure to  the  starting  place,  where  you  will  have  a  20-  minute rafting instruction.  After  we   will  go down   to   the Rioni   River with experienced IRF instructor. Rafting route starts from the fortress “Chrebalo” and ends in the village Nikordziri. The length of the rafting is 23 km. Complexity II-III category, duration 2  hours  20  minutes (depending on the season). After rafting on the shore of Rioni river you will taste delicious barbecue, Rachian Lobiani, Imeretian cheese, local cucumber-tomato salad and all this in the middle of the nature.

On the way, we will turn into the amazing gorge of the river Lajanur and we will climb  the  pass  leading to the town of Tsageri. From the top of the pass offers a striking view of the valley Tskhenistskali. The whole road goes along the Tskhenistskali gorge. At the end we will visit the ancient city of Kutaisi, we will see the central square and the Colchis fountain. In addition, in Kutaisi you can taste Imeretian cuisine. After this we will return to Tbilisi.
